National Day Reception in Canberra

Dear AIPA Members and Friends,

On Wednesday, 8th May 2024, I flew to Canberra to attend the National Day Reception,  organized in honour of Poland’s 3rd May Constitution Day. Hosted by HE Ambassador Mr. Maciej Chmielinski and Mrs. Malgorzata Jagas-Chmielinska, the event served as a significant gathering for various dignitaries, including DFAT and embassy staff, members of the Australian Institute of Polish Affairs (AIPA), and other esteemed guests from across the nation.

The reception was a vibrant blend of cultural celebration and diplomatic camaraderie. Notably, it featured illuminating speeches by the Polish Ambassador, Mr Maciej Chmielinski, and HE Mr Gabriele Visentin, the EU Ambassador to Australia. These speeches commemorated three pivotal anniversaries: the 233rd Anniversary of the declaration of the Constitution of 3rd May 1791 – hailed as the first modern constitution in Europe, the 20th Anniversary of Poland’s accession to the European Union, and the 25th Anniversary of Poland’s entry into NATO. The speeches underscored the historical significance of these milestones and emphasized the enduring bonds between Poland, Australia, the EU, and NATO.

The reception was a celebration of history and diplomacy and a unique opportunity for networking and outreach. It was an enriching experience marked by camaraderie, cultural exchange, and diplomatic engagement.

I have attached some photos from the reception, capturing the vibrant atmosphere and key moments from the festivities.

Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to sharing more updates with you soon.

Best regards,

Alexandra
