On Sunday, 29 June 2025, members of the Australian Institute of Polish Affairs had the pleasure of attending an afternoon with the Consul General of the Republic of Poland, Mr. Piotr Rakowski, hosted at the private residence of Mr. and Mrs. Fajwul in Sydney.
The highlight of the afternoon was the Consul General’s presentation titled “Polish Presidency of the European Council”, which offered an overview of Poland’s priorities, responsibilities, and strategic ambitions during its 2025 term at the helm of the EU Council. The talk was followed by an engaging discussion, with participants raising thoughtful questions and sharing insights on European and international affairs.
The event took place in an intimate and welcoming setting, which fostered open dialogue and a strong sense of connection among guests. A delicious dinner, generously prepared by our hosts, Ernest and Margaret, created a warm and relaxed atmosphere, allowing for continued conversations, exchange of ideas, and reflection on potential future collaboration.
This gathering was not only an opportunity to deepen our understanding of Poland’s current role in the European Union but also to strengthen the network between the Polish diplomatic service and our organisation. We are hopeful that this meeting will pave the way for further cooperation and joint initiatives in the future.
We extend our sincere thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Fajwul for their generous hospitality and to the Consul General for sharing his time, knowledge, and vision with us.
