Statement on the Mosque Shootings, Christchurch, NZ

The Australian Institute of Polish Affairs (AIPA) joins all people condemning the barbaric act of terrorism in Christchurch. We sympathise with the victims of this act, and with all the New Zealanders and Australians who are deeply shaken by this outrage.

Our organisation condemns any acts of violence, especially the terrorism directed
against defenceless civilians, as violating our most sacred values. These values are shared by
all civilised people, regardless of their race, ethnicity and religion.

We also oppose all extremist ideologies, especially those embracing hatred and violence, and condemn all preachers of these toxic views.

AIPA stands shoulder to shoulder with all people of good will in calling the Australian and New Zealand Governments to take all legal measures to prevent the terrorist acts. Toxic ideologies that justify terrorism poison our culture and destroy our communities. It is our joint responsibility not only to condemn them, but also to stop their dissemination.
