Dealing with the Communist Past: The Polish Experience

Dr Łukasz Kamiński, President of the Institute of National Remembrance (since 2011), author and co-author of more than 300 scholarly and popular publications, including Workers’ Strikes in Poland in 1945-1948 (Wrocław, 1999), Poles For a New Reality 1944-1948: Forms of Non-institutional Spontaneous Social Resistance (Toruń, 2000), and Roads to Freedom of the Copper Field (Legnica, 2006)]. He is assistant professor at the Institute of History, University of Wrocław (since 1999).

Archives of Regime Special Services: The Polish Experience with the Archives of the Communist Political Police

Dr Rafał Leśkiewicz, Director of the Office for the Preservation and Dissemination of Archival Records in the Institute of the National Remembrance, author of The Military District Court in Poznań from 1946 to 1955: Organization, Function, Archival Processes (Warsaw and Poznań, 2009), co-editor of the Handbook of the European Network of Official Authorities in Charge of Secret Police Files (Prague, 2013) and numerous publications on archival processes and recent Polish history.
